Leaving on a jet plane….. Jan. 2013
We are leaving on a jet plane; don’t know when we’ll be back again…..
Here we sit in the Atlanta airport waiting for our flight to Honduras. I pray that in the heavy bags I packed, we have most of what we need. I am intentional about using the word “need” and not “want”. It was interesting to decide between what I think we need and what I wanted to pack. This is only the beginning of a swift in mindset as we enter the mission field.
We leave behind our families, friends, home, church, native language, and all we know to be familiar. We look forward to living in a rented apartment, learning a new language, finding a new church, living among friends, and following God’s call on our lives.
We are excited and nervous. Who are we that we would think we have what it takes to build and develop a day care center and children’s home in a foreign land? To negotiate the drilling of a well, building the water development system, overseeing the construction of the facility, networking with mission partners to care for the children, etc. We are the son and daughter of the King, Jehovah, and followers of the Great Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We must depend on Him to guide and show us the way just as He has been during our days in the US. The main thing has not changed. The surroundings and the circumstances are about to change immensely. But the faith it takes to live each day for Jesus is the same regardless of where we are serving the Kingdom.
We are grateful for the love and support that many of you have shown to us as we have been in prep mode. For every one who departs their homeland for the Kingdom, it takes many prayer warriors to support their success.
God bless and we will be in touch.
