Dan Wood

DIRECTOR

Dan has retired from more than 40 years in the government and nuclear industry sector. He started his career as a mechanical engineer in the Savannah River Plant laboratory and worked across the site in a variety of roles for 28 years. 

Once their sons started at Clemson, he and his wife, Kathy, agreed to travel for work …. and travel they did. With roughly 2-year assignments in Idaho, England (twice), Abu Dhabi, Washington State, and Canada. His last full-time assignment was as the Chief Operating Officer at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). Dan continues to support Jacobs Engineering as a Board member for the West Valley Demonstration Project closure contract.

Dan and Kathy were married while at Clemson, weathered the loss of a child, and raised their sons in Aiken, SC. With both sons now married, they are blessed with 3 grandchildren. His oldest son is a Methodist pastor in Baltimore, MD and his younger son is a Radiological Technician in Oakridge, TN. 

Dan and Kathy have supported local non-profits in a variety of roles – from just volunteers to active Board members and have made many trips to Honduras. The first trip was in 2004, when Roxanne asked her brother to come help wire a medical clinic. Dan is also a past-President of the Honduras Agape Foundation and continues to support HAF as their construction coordinator (a non-Board member role).
